Marc and Carol Head are the owners of Automotive Solutions Kauri located on State Highway 1 approximately 5km north of Hikurangi and 6km south of Hukerenui, in the Northland region.

They are a small rural service centre with the BP2go Whakapara on the end of the building.

Automotive Solutions Kauri (aka Whakapara Service Centre) is a well-equipped general repairer, repairing all vehicles and trailers from Suzukis and Toyotas, to Audis, Porsches and Mazdas, Mitsubishis, Nissans and Holdens. You name it, they work on it, from vintage to brand new!

Automotive Solutions Kauri stocks and sources only quality parts including Century batteries, Ryco filters, Bosch ignition parts and Quality Pennzoil lubricants. They carry a large range of Wynn's products and the German designed Wurth industry products.

They stock Sime, Simex and Uniroyal tyres as well as GT radial, Bridgestone, Firestone, Maxxis and most other brands of well recognised tyres.

The Background

When the rural workshop first opened on 19 October 1988 Marc was the sole technician. Eventually Carol began working as the office administrator.

“We started with very modest equipment and now have state of the art fuel injection servicing equipment and electronic diagnostic scanners, lab scopes and oscilloscopes through to an Italian Brake disc rotor lathe and a top of the line wheel balancer accurate up to 1 gram,” says Marc.

“This equipment, and skills that we have acquired, enables us to diagnose and repair items such as ABS braking, air bag systems, electronic transmissions, air conditioning and climate control as well as drivability problems to name just a few.”

The Team

We currently have a team of three full time personnel and a part time administration manager.

Our team is tight with good work ethics as well as our "Customer Satisfaction First" drive. We have been Motor Trade Association members since shortly after we began operating and have recently stepped up to become members of the highly regarded Automotive Solutions Group.

Marc Head is the Manager/Senior Technician, and has been in the industry since he began his apprenticeship at the age of 18. Marc has been actively involved in the Motor Trade Association (MTA), the National Alternative Fuels Specialist Committee, and has been an advisor to the LTSA on issues such as WOF law and vehicle standards and regulations.

Carol Head is our Administration Manager. Carol has an extensive background in business and stock management.

Adam Billington is a technician and has been with Automotive Solutions Kauri since 2003. He is known for his drive for excellence and his attitude of: "the job isn't worth doing if it’s not done right”.

Richard Hards, our Parts Manager since 2009, is always ready to lend a hand to the sourcing and procurement of parts and lubricants to suit client demand.
